Week 10: Tacos – Beef Carnitas Tacos
Tony lives right above a restaurant specializing in authentic Mexican street food. To be honest, I’m not usually much in the mood for tacos myself (I have a more intense preoccupation for asian flavours and sushi), but when we do go there it’s always great. We decided to tackle constructing our own authentic tacos for this challenge.
We stocked up on green salsa, avocados and corn tortillas bought from a local, small grocery store specializing in Latin American foods, which was a great find in itself. Then we spent a lovely Saturday afternoon slow cooking the beef (only setting off the highly reactive fire alarm in the apartment a mere 3 times!) and devoured our tacos at about 10:30 at night. Tasted delicious! Definitely worth the process.
